A Great Neighborhood in Edmond, OK

I want the neighborhood to be aware that there has been several daytime-residential burglaries in Edmond recently. They seem to case the neighborhood by knocking on doors and asking if a named individual is home. This is only an attempt to see if anyone answers the door or if anyone is home. When nobody answers the door they will go to a door sometimes a side or back door and forcefully kick the door to gain entry into the house. Most times there is more than one person. They are taking anything of value they can get their hands on.
We have a wonderful neighborhood. What makes a good neighborhood is good neighbors. Good neighbors watch out for each other. During the daytime many of our residents work, but there are serveral who do not. I would ask that those who stay home during the day keep a vigilant eye on the neighborhood.
What can you do?
-Be observant. What do they look like? Could you identify them again if you had to? What were they driving (make, model, color, and distinguishing features)? What was the tag number? Make a good witness.
-Be vigilant by calling the police. If it looks wrong or feels wrong it problably is wrong. Please call. That is what the police department is for. The police would rather keep it from happening than take a report after it happens.
Edmond has a low crime rate, but this could not be accomplished without the watchful eyes of the residents of Edmond, residents who care about their community and have a “not on my watch” mentality.
Please keep an eye on the neighborhood.
Thanks,
Damon
