Nae on Nay Ave. at Planning Commission Tuesday 6/21

The Edmond Planning Commission is scheduled to vote on the preliminary plat of Birnam Woods, located on the 40 acres adjacent to Brookhaven North. The hearing Tuesday 6/21 is before the Edmond Planning Commission and held at 20 South Littler, City Council Chambers, Edmond City Hall.

The primary concerns raised by homeowners in Brookhaven are:

  1. Traffic on Nay Ave. The addition of 99 homes will result in more traffic on Nay Ave. as new people start using Brookhaven Drive as a thoroughfare to go south. We have already addressed traffic problems with city code and police. The new homes will just add to traffic problems. The developer is willing to change the addition to private streets. Existing homeowners in the association are not opposed to an emergency ‘crash gate’ if Birnam Woods goes to private streets (gated community). Please ask for a Nae vote on opening Nay Ave as a public street.
  2. Burning too close to existing homes. The developer met minimum guidelines during previous burns, but has verbally agreed to pull future burn piles further away from existing homes.
  3. Property boundary fencing. For both security and aesthetics existing homeowners are asking for boundary fencing. The developer has verbally agreed to build a new fence as each new home is built.

Meeting time: 5:30

Meeting date: Tuesday, May 21, 2011

Try to make personal contact with the decision makers through calls, emails, personal visits.

Maintain cordial/professional discussions at all times.

Threats are ineffective.

Tell the decision makers our story. Have as many people from our addition there as possible.

Numbers count, so packing the council chambers will have an effect.

Bring to light the impact that such a large amount of homes within a small area will have on traffic into Brookhaven.
